Sustainable Wedding Cakes in Sussex

Sustainable Wedding Cakes

I design and bake beautiful, bespoke, one-of-a-kind, sustainable wedding cakes right here in Brighton, East Sussex. I use organic, locally sourced ingredients and run a low-waste, eco-conscious kitchen. My goal is to create a wedding cake that reflects your style while minimising its environmental impact.

Siala & Jack – Wedding Cake, Brighton, East Sussex.

Luisa’s unmistakable passion for the work she does, and pride she takes in it, shows through in every element of her baking; from her use of sustainable produce and ingredients right through to the uniquely vibrant presentation.

Her considered and creative approach to flavour combinations, and inimitable decoration style, made our wedding cake an incredibly special part of our day – and more than one friend said it was the best cake they’d ever eaten!

Thank you so much Luisa x

Beautiful Wedding Cakes, Made Sustainably

I never compromise on flavour or design. Every wedding cake I make is a reflection of your story and my craft. I’ll work with you to create a stunning centrepiece that’s as delicious as it is sustainable.

What Makes a Wedding Cake Sustainable?

For me, sustainability means more than choosing organic flour or free-range eggs. It means thinking about every step of the process, from where I source ingredients to how I package and deliver your cake. I run my business with intention, reducing waste, lowering emissions, and giving back to the local community whenever possible.

Responsibly Sourced Ingredients

I buy organic and ethically sourced ingredients, and I prioritise suppliers from East Sussex and the surrounding areas. I reduce packaging waste, choose biodegradable and recyclable materials, and stay conscious of every ingredient and supply I bring into my kitchen.

Reducing Waste Through Design

My signature fruit petal cakes use 100% edible decorations made from dried fruits and berries. They’re naturally beautiful and eliminate the need for fresh flowers, which often get discarded. If you want floral touches, I can suggest local, seasonal or dried flowers that are easier on the environment. I also offer recyclable or reusable toppers that make great keepsakes.

Cutting Down on Food and Packaging Waste

I create recipes tailored to each order, so there’s little to no excess batter or frosting. I compost food scraps and clean with eco-friendly products. When I deliver your cake, I use reusable, protective packaging to keep everything secure without relying on single-use materials.

Smart Serving and Storage Tips

I help you avoid waste by advising on servings and cake size. I also include a cutting guide so your venue can serve the correct number of portions. If you have leftover cake, I include tips for storing or freezing it. My cakes stay fresh for three days and freeze well for up to two months.

Eco-Friendly Delivery

Wedding cake delivery is free within Brighton & Hove and up to 20 miles from my BN1 studio. I personally hand-deliver each cake, planning efficient routes to minimise travel emissions. By ordering ingredients in bulk, I reduce unnecessary trips and offset unavoidable emissions by supporting rewilding projects in the UK.

Giving Back Locally

Sustainability also means supporting the community around me. That’s why I donate bakes and surplus ingredients to local charities such as the Gardener Cafe Brighton, by The Real Junk Food Project, a brilliant zero-waste food initiative. In addition, I volunteer with Bramber Bakehouse, where I help teach baking and life skills to women who’ve experienced trauma, abuse, or displacement.

Wedding Cakes With Less Waste

My signature fruit petal wedding cake has 100% edible ingredients that are made from natural fruits and berries. This is less wasteful than using fresh flowers or other decorations that are usually removed before serving.

However, if you do have a design in mind that uses florals or other non-edible features I am more than happy to advise on the most sustainable way to source these. We can for example use seasonal flowers that are sourced locally or even dried blooms.

Cake toppers are sourced from recyclable materials and kept as a keepsake after the event.

If you’re planning a wedding in Sussex and want a cake that’s as beautiful as it is ethical, I’d love to hear from you. I’ll help you create something special, with heart, flavour and purpose.

Luisa made us THE BEST Wedding cake. It was absolutely – exactly what we were after – beautifully decorated and the raspberry and white chocolate was so delicious!! We had lots of compliments on how great it was and there wasn’t a piece left! Thank you!!
