Ordering & Enquiries

How do I order a cake?

To begin, simply submit an enquiry through the website. This allows me to check availability for your date and provide a rough guide price based on your requirements.

I aim to reply within 24–48 hours. During peak wedding season, responses may take slightly longer. My main admin day is Tuesday, when I reply to all outstanding enquiries.

If you’re waiting for a response, please check your junk folder — attachments such as price guides can occasionally trigger spam filters.

Cake Care, Storage & Transport

How should I care for my cake after delivery or collection?

All cakes are freshly baked to order and are best enjoyed on the day of delivery or collection. When stored correctly, they will remain delicious for 3–4 days.

Store your cake in:

  • An airtight container
  • A cool, dry place (or refrigerated if advised)
  • Away from direct sunlight or heat

If you have leftovers, cakes can be cut into portions, wrapped well, and frozen for up to 3 months.

How do I transport my cake safely?

If collecting your cake:

  • Always support the box from the bottom
  • Place it on a flat surface in your car (a non-slip mat is ideal)
  • Ensure nothing can slide into the cake
  • Drive slowly and carefully, especially around corners

Once a cake has left my kitchen, I can’t take responsibility for damage during transport — which is why I strongly recommend delivery for tiered cakes.

How should my cake be displayed?

  • Cakes can usually be displayed for up to 4 hours before serving in cool or air-conditioned venues
  • In warm conditions, cakes should stay chilled until around 1 hour before serving
  • Always keep cakes out of direct sunlight, open flames, or heat sources

Cake Sizes & Portion Guides

How many servings do I need?

Portion sizes vary depending on how the cake will be served:

  • Wedding (coffee) portions: approx. 1″ × 1″
  • Dessert portions: approx. 1″ × 2″

Things to consider:

  • Will the cake be served as dessert or after the meal?
  • Are other desserts being served?
  • Guest numbers and age mix
  • Who will be cutting the cake?

I provide a cutting guide with every order, and I’m always happy to help you choose the right size.

I’m cutting my own cake — what should I know?

Before cutting:

  • Remove all flowers and non-edible decorations
  • Be aware that tiered cakes contain internal dowels and boards for support

I’ll always explain this clearly and provide guidance for your venue or caterers.

Delivery & Collection

Do you offer delivery?

Yes — all tiered wedding cakes are delivered personally due to their delicate nature. Cakes over two tiers usually require on-site setup.

Delivery within 10 miles of Brighton (BN1) is included in wedding cake quotes.
Delivery for celebration cakes or locations outside this area will be quoted separately.

Collection from my studio is always free, where suitable.

Pricing & Quotes

How much does a cake cost?

Cake pricing depends on size, design complexity and the level of planning involved.

Wedding cake pricing reflects:

  • Bespoke design work
  • Consultations and planning
  • Professional delivery and setup
  • Coordination with venues and suppliers

Do wedding cakes cost more than celebration cakes?

Often, yes — but this reflects the additional time, detail, planning and logistics involved, rather than a difference in ingredients alone.

Large or intricate celebration cakes will be priced similarly to wedding cakes, where the work involved is comparable.

Payments, Deposits & Cancellations

Do you require a deposit?

Yes — a £200 non-refundable deposit secures your date.
Final payment is due 6 weeks before delivery.

Quotes are valid for 7 days. Your date is held during this period and confirmed once the deposit is received.

What is your cancellation policy?

  • More than 90 days before delivery: deposit only
  • 6–90 days before delivery: 50% of final invoice
  • Less than 6 weeks: full invoice

If I’m able to rebook your date with another wedding, I’ll always refund where possible as a goodwill gesture.

Consultations & Tastings

Do you offer consultations?

Yes — complimentary consultations are available via phone or Zoom.

In-person consultations (45 minutes, tea & cake included) are available on selected dates and cost £90.

Do you offer cake tasting boxes?

Yes. Sample boxes are available on selected dates throughout the year.

  • £35 including delivery
  • Includes six signature flavours
  • Vegan and dietary-specific boxes available

During peak season, availability may be limited.

Dietary Requirements & Allergens

Do you offer vegan and gluten-free cakes?

Yes — I specialise in vegan cakes and cakes made without gluten.
However, all cakes are made in a kitchen that handles gluten, dairy, nuts and other allergens, so I can’t guarantee products are 100% allergen-free.

For clients with coeliac disease or severe allergies, I recommend a fully allergen-free bakery.

Cake Stand Hire

Do you offer cake stand hire?

Yes. Cake stands are available to hire for £35, with a £69 refundable deposit.
Stands must be returned within one week of delivery or collection.

Still have a question?

If there’s anything you’d like to ask that isn’t covered here, I’m always happy to help.
